Launch local program

I would like to be able to use the reader offline to just launch some local programs. On the pc that I intend to hook this up on there will be no internet access. Also it seems that it currently takes 5-15 secs to launch a local application such as notepad when configured via your webservice. If I click start-> run-> notepad it will open in less then one sec. Is there a way to just launch a local program.If I put a tag that is not configured on the reader , it will popup a notice within 1 sec.

Same Problem - Wish for expanation of the custom protocol!

Does anyone have an example for the custom protocol? I would like to launch a local application, but I can not understand really how. May be someone has a clue and would help us three to get it done ;)

I want the same functionality. For example, I would like each RFID tag to launch a locally stored video (to avoid latency delay and have higher quality). Or launch a powerpoint type slide show.
A simple application that allowed to run a command line or execute a batch file would be versatile.
