New touchatag drivers for Mac
As from today there are updated drivers available for use with Mac PCs. The drivers are available as a combined download with the touchatag client software from the download section. This update should stop the application from freezing during use. If you are experiencing problems with the touchatag reader and/or service on your Mac, you should upgrade to the new driver.
IMPORTANT: make sure the old drivers are uninstalled before you install the new ones, instructions are on the downloads page.

The touchatag.com website and service will be down for maintenance next Monday Feb 21 starting at 13:00 CET.
touchatag + Google Nexus S NFC phone use cases
Good news for all our tagging fans as more and more NFC enabled mobile phones come out. These phones all read out the touchatag tags and initiate the linked applications that can be configured via the touchatag dashboard.
touchatag provides tag reader and information sharing functionalities that gets round Gingerbread's read-only limitation by allowing the user to associate data with an existing tag and hold it in an online database. When that tag is subsequently read, touchatag retrieves the stored action — a URL, or other data — from the cloud and acts on it.

Near Field Communication, the integration of RFID technology into phones, long time has been a hype, but is turning into reality. Last quarter of 2010 showed various announcements of NFC enabled phones like the Google Nexus S among others. And 2011 will bring many more. All contactless applications created via the touchatag website and linked to contactless tags can be initiated via these NFC phones. The promise of touchatag for 2011 remains the same, i.e. enabling anyone to create contactless applications, whether it is for educational reasons or whether you want to make your own rental or time registration system. touchatag twitter application removed
Twitter recently changed their policy to only allow OAuth login. Our touchatag twitter application does not support that. As such, the application will be removed from your dashboard.

Inspiration for the touchatag community (part 2)
Here is an idea we had not thought off ourselves and we required the assistance of Wikipedia to understand the full context. We would like to present John M Knight and his “electromagnetic geospatial steampunk globe, using touchatag”. Mr Knight has incorporated touchatag with his steampunk globe and computer to remote control Google earth. Announcing the winners of the Vienna Jungle Scrum
We are happy to announce the winners of our urban game challenge: Vienna Jungle Scrum . Alcatel-Lucent Touchatag and A1 Mobilkom ran this contest together in the margin of A1's Innovation days.
We'd like to take a moment to thank all the participants. Overall we saw a great quality in game experience design.
